The Asbery & Associates story began in April 2010 when we took our office to a private medical practice. We began with 2 providers and 6 employees. We have been very blessed along the way and have added several new additions and continue to grow. Please allow us to introduce ourselves and offer to you a family oriented environment with personal, individualized care.
David S. Asbery, M.D., FACOG
Dr. Asbery graduated from The University of Kentucky School of Medicine in 1996. He then completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina in 2000 and became Board Certified in 2002. He and his family relocated from Georgia to Illinois in 2007, where he has been practicing in the Mt. Vernon and surrounding areas since. Dr. Asbery is also a former Marine, and currently a member of The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, The Southern Medical Association, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and The American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology. Dr. Asbery is the most experienced Robotic Surgeon in the Mt. Vernon area.
Daniel Moore, M.D., FACOG
Dr. Moore graduated from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine in 1994. He then completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia in 1998 and became board certified in 2000. Dr. Moore relocated from West Virginia to Illinois in 2020 when he joined Asbery & Associates in practice. He has been practicing medicine for over 20 years and continues to offer many Women’s Health Services within our community. He is currently a member of The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Medical Association, Seaboard Medical Association and North Carolina Medical Association.
Jo Ann Dudley, M.D., FACOG
Dr. Dudley graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1985. She then completed her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Blodgett/St. Mary’s in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1989 and became board certified in 1991. Dr. Dudley relocated from West Virginia to Illinois in January 2019 when she joined Asbery & Associates in practice. She has been in medical practice for over 30 years and continues to offer a wide variety of Women’s Health Services. Dr. Dudley is currently a member of The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
Andrea Briles, PA-C
Andrea Briles attended The University of Alabama in Birmingham, graduating in 1995 as a Certified Physician's Assistant and Surgical Assistant. Andrea began her 17 year career in the hospital setting as a Surgical Assistant where she assisted for 3 years in Cardio-Thoracic Surgeries. She then moved on to Vascular Surgery where she worked for the next 4 years. Andrea began working in Medical Office as a Physician's Assistant in 2005. She joined Asbery & Associates in September 2012 and can offer our patients a family practice background in conjunction with Women's Health.
Julie Rinehart, CNM, CNP
Julie Rinehart graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, DC with a Master’s of Science, Certified Nurse Midwife and Nurse Practitioner dual degree program in December 2017 and became board certified in 2018. Julie has 24 years of experience in nursing, with 15 of those years being dedicated to Women’s Health including management of antepartum, intrapartum and post partum patient care, surgical first-assist for cesarean sections, natural birthing methods and breastfeeding support. She is beginning her career with Asbery & Associates in the medical office setting, where she is able to offer a wide variety of services in Women’s Health and Ob-Gyn.
Melissa Klausman, WHNP-BC, CNM
Melissa Klausman attended Georgetown University School of Nursing in Washington, D.C. She graduated in 2015 with a Master’s Degree of Science in Nursing, having completed a dual degree program in both Nurse Midwifery and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She became board certified in 2016. Melissa brings with her an extensive nursing background having practiced in a hospital telemetry and infectious disease setting as well as being a United States Air Force Veteran where she served as a Communications Officer. She joined Asbery & Associates in January 2021 and continues to offer a wide variety of Women’s Health Services.
Cynthia Phillips, FNP
Cindy Phillips attended Purdue University and graduated in 2017 with Master’s of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner. She then became board certified in February 2018. Cindy brings 18 years of nursing experience with her including hospital staff nurse, circulating surgical nurse and Assistant Director of Surgical Services prior to beginning her career as a Nurse Practitioner in 2018. She joined Asbery & Associates in practice in May, 2023 and will continue to serve the Mt. Vernon and surrounding areas offering a wide variety of Women’s Health Services.

Paul Havrilka, FNP
Paul Havrilka graduated from Frontier Nursing University in 2013 with a Masters of Science in Nursing. He then became Board Certified in August 2013 and began his career in a medical office setting. He later practiced in a hospital setting including the emergency department until he opened his own office and practiced solo until 2016, when he and his family relocated to Alaska. Paul joined Asbery & Associates in 2019 and offers a wide variety of Family Medicine and Women’s Health Services in both our Mcleansboro and Mt. Vernon Family Medicine locations.
Shane Bowen, PA-C
Jeremy “Shane” Bowen graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1999 as a Certified Physician Assistant and became Board Certified the same year. He began his career by serving in the United States Air Force offering Primary Care Services to active-duty service members as well as their dependents and retired military personnel. He moved on to work as a Surgical Physician Assistant in hospital settings for 12 years and then Urgent Care for an additional 7 years. Shane joined Asbery & Associates in practice late 2022 and is offering a wide range of Primary Care Services in and around the Centralia, IL area.
Michelle Burwell, PA-C
Michelle Burwell attended the University of North Dakota Physician Assistant program, graduating in 1993. She then became Board Certified and began practice in a fast-paced Rural Health setting where she worked for 13 years. Michelle then moved on to a Medical Office setting in 2006, specializing in Internal Medicine and has served many patients on a routine basis for an additional 16 years. Michelle joined Asbery & Associates in practice late 2022. With over 30 years of experience, she continues to offer a wide variety of services to the Mt. Vernon and surrounding areas.
